The response from the listeners and the rate at which the song ended up on everyone's playlist laid the foundation for "Sketches of Darjeeling".
Recorded between 2013-14, the album is a collection of songs inspired by life around the hills of Darjeeling, a small town that sits on the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. Harmonically blending Nepali folk music with contemporary western musical elements, the songs have the rare quality of touching the pahari heart and transporting the listener to the land where the songs were born.

Words suspended in melody. That is how it started.
Shadow and Light was born on a cold November afternoon, from the efforts of two young people to unlock the potential within a few notes of music.
In this venture, who is the vocalist, the lyricist, the composer, the instrumentalist? The easy answer is that Pavithra is the vocalist and Anindo the instrumentalist. Everything else is a joint contribution. Honestly, they both chip in for any and everything needed to take an idea and make it into a song. And that's worked out pretty well so far.
What Pavithra and Anindo want to do is reach out and touch people's hearts with their music. Plain and simple. Music is one of the few things that cuts across the artificial differences of race, language, religion, culture and nationality in this world. Music shows us that, deep inside, we all share the same dreams, hopes and desires. Make music, not war!
It's early days for Shadow and Light right now. There is a lot of experimentation, a cartload of diverse influences and an ongoing theme of genre fusion. Indian Classical will meet Jazz by the roadside, and they will hitchhike a ride with Blues and Trance. Or something like that.
